Season 1[]
In Pour It Out: after Brad is fired from Sullivan's, Erik Whitley tries to gets Dana Sue's attention in order to get the position himself. However, she doesn't seem too happy with it and snaps at him and Helen for messing with the restaurant's menu. Erik and Helen also seem to be behaving quite flirtatiously.
In A United Front: at Sullivan's, Erik tries to do as much as possible to earn the position of sous-chef after Brad's departure, until Dana Sue finally agrees to promote him.
In Give Drink to the Thirsty: when Brad comes to the restaurant and promises in front of everyone that he will ruin Dana Sue and Sullivan's, Erik takes him out to the entrance and threatens Brad.
In Lay It All Down: Erik talks to a stressed Dana Sue and teaches the importance of asking for help.
In Dance First, Think Later: Erik helps Annie get out of the spa opening so that she can go to the baseball opening. He is later watching Helen and Ryan with a jealous expression.
In All Best Intentions: at Sullivan's, Noreen orders food and starts experiencing sharp labor pains, until Erik comes in and helps. Isaac reveals that Erik used to be an EMT. Not understanding how he's managed to find out about his past, Erik confronts Isaac about his snooping around, having asked questions about their past to everyone at Sullivan's, and Isaac admits that he's been looking for his birth parents. He thinks Erik might be his birth father, but Erik says it's impossible and both of them go for a walk in the forest, where Isaac tells Erik about the only information he has about his birth mother: she left a note saying she's from Serenity, and she also left a bible with a few underlined sentences.
In Hold My Hand: Erik goes for a walk on the forest with Isaac, where they talk about Isaac's birth and adoptive parents and about what he's looking for as an adult. It's also useful for Erik, who, back at Sullivan’s, opens up about how cooking allowed him to take control in his life after suffering loss. He tells Isaac not to give up on his dad (with whom he has a bit of a rift), and offers his company in case he needs it.
In What Fools These Mortals Be: Erik speaks with an angry Dana Sue and takes her for a walk in the forest. They later go fishing, and Erik teaches her about mindfulness, as well as opening up about his past as an EMT and about his wife, Vera dying pregnant with his child.
